Through frequent dialogue with our clients, we create well-defined investment criteria for each of our clients which include desired property sectors, targeted geographic regions, acceptable risk parameters and appropriate investment return thresholds. We then use our established network of public and private real estate owners, developers and brokers to source investment opportunities on behalf of our clients.
We coordinate all required due diligence to assist clients in making fully informed investment decisions, including financing advisory services and collaboration with counsel in the documentation of every acquisition. With legal, investment banking and acquisitions experience, our professionals are well positioned to offer clients important leadership in the negotiation, documentation and closing of every acquisition.
Our professionals have many years of asset management expertise and take a hands-on approach to monitoring assets and making strategic and tactical recommendations to our clients. This experience is utilized to make strategic decisions that enhance the economic returns of our clients’ investments.
We carefully screen on behalf of our clients, property management and leasing agents to ensure that they have a proven track record not only in management and leasing, but also in areas such as research, valuation, financial reporting, risk management, technology and construction. Strategic changes and tactical decisions that affect property and/or portfolio performance are reviewed and approved by us after consultation with our clients.
Once acquired on behalf of a client, each asset or portfolio of assets is subject to a hold/sell analysis prepared in connection with the annual plan. A property’s performance is reviewed as is its contribution to portfolio returns, if applicable. The decision to hold or sell an asset considers numerous factors including: client objectives, asset sector dynamics, market / submarket status, anticipated capital requirements, rent roll quality, and capital market conditions.
Once a property or portfolio of properties is identified for disposition we will present supporting analysis to our client. We then discuss the advantages and disadvantages of various approaches, and if our client agrees with the sale recommendation we will effect the disposition process. As a firm we proactively manage the disposition process, the basic components of which include preparation for sale, marketing for sale and execution of sale.
We frequently represent clients in the formation of joint ventures for the acquisition or development of real estate. These joint venture relationships have included partnerships between our clients and private owners, private developers, public REITs and private REITs. In addition to performing the traditional acquisition advisory services necessary to complete a real estate acquisition, we also provide clients seeking joint venture relationships with specific advisory services related to the details of joint venture structures including: joint venture governance and decision making; fees associated with acquisition, asset management and disposition; performance based “promotes”; dissolution/exit mechanisms; buy-sell/change of control procedures; exclusivity and performance reporting.
We assist our international clients in overcoming one of the significant hurdles in attracting joint venture investment opportunities with U.S. based real estate partners – i.e., the concern by partners that a non-U.S. based investor will be inaccessible for real-time decision making relating to U.S. investments. On behalf of our clients we act as a local representative with the ability to attend meetings, tour properties, participate in conference calls and make decisions on a U.S. timetable. It is our job to bridge any time zone differences and ensure that decision making is always conducted in a manner that maximizes the opportunity for a successful investment.
We provide restructuring advisory services for our clients to improve the financial performance or recovery of underperforming investments. In particular, we specialize in aiding clients in situations where decisions need to be made quickly, often times with imperfect information. Working in conjunction with our clients we will assist in devising and implementing turnaround and restructuring plans. This often includes modifying and amending loan terms, waiver negotiations, loan buybacks, recapitalizations of transactions, modeling and re-forecasting of financial projections.
We are considered a leading advisor to clients seeking real estate acquisitions and financing structured in a Sharia compliant manner. Since the firm’s inception, we have been a thought leader on strategy and structuring ideas relating to the acquisition and financing of real estate on a Sharia compliant basis. We are often called upon to speak on the topic of Sharia compliant real estate investing by international publications and professional associations.

Craig Friedman is the founder and Chairman of Arch Street Capital Advisors, LLC which he established in 2003. As the founder of ASC, Mr. Friedman placed early emphasis on delivering the highest level of client service when executing real estate investments in the U.S. on behalf of the firm’s international clients. That emphasis on client service continues to serve as the foundation of ASC’s investment advisory services as the firm has expanded over the years. In addition to his involvement in the origination and execution of real estate investments, Mr. Friedman has provided strategic guidance at the corporate level to ASC’s institutional clients.
Mr. Friedman has over 20 years of real estate investment advisory and capital markets experience. Prior to founding ASC, he was a senior originator with Deutsche Bank’s real estate investment banking group, having started and being responsible for the firm’s global real estate joint venture advisory business. Mr. Friedman is a frequent speaker at conferences and events focusing on real estate investments and finance, including the World Islamic Banking Conference, among others. He has also been a repeat guest lecturer at New York University’s Master’s Degree program in Real Estate. Mr. Friedman began his professional career as a real estate and corporate/securities attorney at Simpson, Thacher & Bartlett in New York.
Mr. Friedman holds a B.S. degree from Binghamton University and a J.D. degree from Fordham University School of Law.
Anup Patel is the President and Chief Investment Officer of Arch Street Capital Advisors, LLC and has been with the firm since 2005. In his capacity as President, he is responsible for the operational oversight of the firm. As CIO, he is also responsible for overseeing all of the firm’s investment activities and spearheading strategic initiatives including new client development and investment product development.
Joining ASC shortly after the firm’s founding, Mr. Patel has played an instrumental role in the over $6.5 billion of acquisitions, dispositions, and financings that the firm has completed since inception. Prior to ASC, he was with GE Capital in the North America real estate debt group, and prior to that worked as part of GE Capital’s private equity group. He has been a frequent speaker on topics relating to real estate investment and finance, including the intersection of Islamic Finance and commercial real estate investments and the implementation of acceptable investment structures. Mr. Patel has been featured as a guest speaker at New York University’s Shack Institute of Real Estate and Columbia University’s Real Estate Development program.
Mr. Patel holds a B.S. degree from Cornell University’s School of Hospitality Management.
Lori Schechter Roseman is Head of Asset Management at Arch Street Capital Advisors, LLC and has been with the firm since 2013. Mrs. Roseman has oversight of the ongoing asset management of investments made on behalf of ASC’s clients to ensure successful execution of the strategic plan established at acquisition.
Mrs. Roseman has over 25 years of experience in real estate asset management and the repositioning of assets and portfolios. Over her career, she has been responsible for the management of over 20 million square feet of real estate, including the leasing of over 2 million square feet of space. Mrs. Roseman’s asset management responsibilities have included over $2 billion worth of transactional activity. Mrs. Roseman has accumulated her experience working at a number of high-quality organizations in the real estate industry. Prior to ASC, she has held positions at the Dadorian Companies, RFR Realty, Thor Equities, Emmes Asset Management and Jones Lang Lasalle.
Mrs. Roseman is a New York State licensed Certified Public Accountant, and holds a B.S.E degree in Accounting and an M.B.A. from the Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania.
Damian Taylor is a Senior Vice President at Arch Street Capital Advisors, LLC and has been with the firm since 2017. Mr. Taylor focuses on originating, underwriting, and executing investments from an acquisitions and asset management perspective.
Mr. Taylor has an extensive background in real estate, most recently as a Director with CBRE Capital Advisors, the real estate investment banking unit of CBRE, where he focused on cross border investment advisory, institutional capital raising, and general mergers and acquisitions. While at CBRE, he spearheaded the formation of the Investment Advisory Group, which advised foreign capital on direct real estate investments and joint ventures in the US. Prior to CBRE, Mr. Taylor was an Associate Director in the Real Estate Lodging and Leisure Group of UBS Investment Bank, splitting his time between traditional investment banking activities and institutional capital raising. Over his career, he has executed numerous real estate finance and capital markets transactions spanning all major property types and geographies in both the public and private markets. Prior to his work in corporate finance and investment banking, Mr. Taylor worked in real estate development and asset management with Hines and The JBG Companies in Washington DC focusing on office and mixed-use development projects.
Mr. Taylor holds a B.S. degree in Civil Engineering from Georgia Tech and an MBA from Harvard Business School.
Petra Conte is a Senior Vice President at Arch Street Capital Advisors, LLC and has been with the firm since 2007. Ms. Conte is involved in the ongoing asset management of investments made on behalf of ASC’s clients to ensure successful execution of the strategic plan established at acquisition.
Prior to joining ASC, Ms. Conte spent nine years as a Real Estate Manager/Underwriter with the RVI Group focusing on Credit Tenant Lease transactions. RVI is a leading provider of insurance products to companies that are invested in asset intensive businesses including real estate. In her tenure at RVI, Ms. Conte actively managed a diverse portfolio of commercial real estate assets on behalf of various types of clients including developers, REITs, municipalities, equity investors, and lenders with the objective of maximizing her clients’ cash yields. She was also an integral part of the company’s underwriting and risk management team, which was responsible for diversifying the company’s product offerings to insure new asset classes and expand into new international markets.
Ms. Conte holds a B.S. degree in International Business and Finance from Fairfield University.
Gautam Mashettiwar is a Vice President at Arch Street Capital Advisors, LLC and has been with the firm since 2013. Mr. Mashettiwar focuses on originating, underwriting, and executing investments from an acquisitions and asset management perspective.
Prior to ASC, Mr. Mashettiwar was an associate at IREO Management, a $1.6 billion real estate private equity firm focused on real estate investments in India. While at IREO, he was involved in the underwriting, analysis and coordination of over $400 million of various development projects throughout the country. Prior to his time at IREO, Mr. Mashettiwar was with Jones Lang Lasalle where he was responsible for assisting corporations such as Deutsche Bank, Hewitt Associates, McDonald’s Corp. and others with managing their requirement for corporate office space and services globally.
Mr. Mashettiwar graduated from the Jerome Fisher Program in Management & Technology at the University of Pennsylvania receiving a dual degree—a B.S.E in Economics from the Wharton School, and a B.A.S. in Computer Science from the School of Engineering.
Hemal Patel is an Associate at Arch Street Capital Advisors, LLC and has been with the firm since 2017. Mr. Patel focuses on originating, underwriting, and executing investments from an acquisitions and asset management perspective.
Prior to ASC, Mr. Patel was an Associate with Rialto Capital Advisors, a real estate investment and asset management company focused on equity, debt, and special servicing. While at Rialto Capital Advisors, Mr. Patel was part of the investment management team and responsibilities were to source, underwrite and execute on transactions. Mr. Patel evaluated several billion dollars’ worth of commercial real estate investment opportunities across various investment vehicles including Mezzanine financing, Preferred Equity, CMBS B-Piece acquisitions, Non Performing Loan portfolio acquisitions and equity investments.
Mr. Patel holds a B.S. degree in Finance from the Goizueta School of Business at Emory University.
Alicia Carlucci is the Controller for Arch Street Capital Advisors, LLC and has been with the firm since 2007. Mrs. Carlucci is responsible for accounting and taxation compliance for investments made on behalf of ASC’s clients, which includes ongoing maintenance of ownership entities and adherence to controls involving funding and disbursements.
Prior to ASC, Mrs. Carlucci has held positions at a number of reputable financial institutions. Her work experience includes acting as a staff accountant at Falcon Financial Investment Trust and subsequently at IStar Financial following its acquisition of Falcon in 2005. She has also held the position of Accounts Payable Manager for all of Starwood Capital’s domestic and international assets. Prior to Starwood, Mrs. Carlucci was a Senior Staff Accountant at Nations Bank.
Mrs. Carlucci holds an Associate degree from San Diego State University.
Tina Vasile is an Assistant Controller and the Office Manager at Arch Street Capital Advisors, LLC and has been with the firm since 2015. Ms. Vasile is responsible for coordination of financial audits and tax compliance filings for investments made on behalf of ASC’s clients. She is also responsible for administrative requirements pertaining to the day-to-day operation of the firm.
Prior to ASC, Ms. Vasile spent fourteen years at Lazar Corporate Advisors in a similar capacity.
Ms. Vasile has completed business management coursework at Westchester Community College.
